Outdoor First Aid Specialist Dave Stretton

Outdoor First Aid to Outdoor Ironman

On Sunday 18th June 2017, Senior Trainer and Outdoor First Aid specialist Dave ‘Stretts’ Stretton competed in the Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire event.

Facing unusually hot conditions (for the UK) Stretts, athlete number 2237, completed a 1.2-mile swim in Chasewater reservoir, 56 miles on the bike and a 13.1-mile run at the historic Shugborough country estate.  He did this in an incredible time of 06:52:09 – if you knew his age, you would be astonished too!

Events like Ironman through to park runs and cycle events need, in addition to paramedic support; officials, marshals and volunteers qualified in first aid.  This is particularly crucial where parts of a course are more remote and therefore require rapid first aid response.

Our own Ironman is an expert in all things outdoor, activity and sport-related first aid.  He’s also made us all very proud.  Well done Stretts, and we look forward to your next competition!
